Eligibility
The District receives state funding for those children who meet one of the eligibility criteria established by the Texas Education Agency. Receiving this funding is critical to the operation of the Prekindergarten program, so we are asking parents to provide income verification if their children qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

Children whose home language is other than English will be assessed to determine their level of proficiency in English. SBISD receives state funding for children who meet one of the following criteria:
- Limited proficiency in English
- Qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, or Homeless
Children who are not eligible, based on state requirements, may attend prekindergarten on a tuition basis. The tuition charge is lower than most other preschool programs in the area and offers significantly more options and resources. Scholarships are also available.
